SBD -> Dolby A Reel -> Dolby A decode -> DAT -> Sound Forge NR -> CD-R; apparently sourced from previously-circulating Leigh Orf seed, with possible additions by Jason Lunz; note d2,3 have same md5s as previous copy, but d1 md5s are different.
The Sound Forge noise reduction was used to attenuate a very narrow frequency band (in the vicinity of 8000 Hz) which was present as interference on the original reels. See http://members.home.net/orf/notch.html for details.

it would have been awesome of the ramones were closet deadheads and covered bertha. can i get an amen?
that said, not huge on this port chester run, but quite understandable with mickey recently departed and this seems to be one of the better nights.

Great run
Between the DarkStar from the 18th, And all the songs introduced on the 19th, this is a great run and a pivotal point in the bands evolution. Every night of the run is played with enthusiasm and focus. The 19th was the first show without Mickey.

everybody's a critic
this show is an archival masterpiece. the people bitchin about ripple have too muck wax in thier ears. the false start is hilarious and just goes to show that the dead were still human. excellent show, period.

good show
My first review, so don't jump on my back if I make a mistake.
My first impression says that it is a very good show.
I am amazed nobody said anything about this version of Easy Wind, which in my mind is one of the best they ever preformed.
And if this, like a reveiwer befoe me said, is the first show without Mickey, they adapted real quick again.
After having listened through the entie show, I need to say, it is a good show, but it has some minor flaws. the Playing doesnt do a lot for me and there are some other things that keep it from being a lgeend of a show, so 4 stars for this show

What a show!
I was at this show. Portchester was a great venue! This was the first show without Mickey, but his drums were still on stage. Sometimes the recordings don't match the live show, but they never really did, and this was no different. Most later Deadheads don't know about the interminable tuning, or Phil spinning his cord, or Jerry bobbing, but some of us do. This entire run was great and they all deserve five stars.

Reply to Poor Ripple Reviews
i strongly disagree with those people who have said that the Ripple from the show is a poor version. I cannot even begin to understand the thinking behind this as it is a gem from some of their earliest recordings of the song. Do not listen to the poor reviews and download for your own sake.

Good sound quality and World peace
The recording sounds pretty good. People hear things differently,We all have different audio equipment. We need not call each other names. Imagine world peace or whirrled peas for that matter. With all the negative things happening in the world, we should all try to be peacemakers, there is a better way. Peace

Too bad this was way before my time, this is one smokin show except for "Ripple" it sounds like it isn't even from the same show. A solid 4.

Absolutely not a 2 - Closer to a 6
One again perfect contrarian indicator - The syphilitic twit below says its bad and it's in fact ridiculously good...
I will go so far as to say this is one of the best I have heard on this site and I have listened to more than a few here...
There are so many firsts and this is an important cross roads between the new dead with loser, sugar mag, bird song***, playin truckin, as they decoupled from the dark star>lovelight>NFA etc that had been their live staples and they do not rely on at all here... You will love this - it is really great....
